Priceline founder Jay Walker filed fifteen patent lawsuits against more than 100 companies on April 11. The patents at issue include internet technologies at the heart of banking, online gaming, and bargain websites. A press release said that the suits are a response to the unwillingness of the defendant companies to negotiate licensing fees.
The US Patent and Trademark Office will begin accepting requests for expedited patent examination on May 4th, 2011. Expedited examination will cost $4,000 in addition to standard examination fees.
