Laser Energetics Files Patent For New Laser

Submitted by Jack Korba on June 28, 2010 – 2:51 PM463No Commenthttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.ipbrief.net%2F2010%2F06%2F28%2Flaser-energetics-files-patent-for-new-laser%2FLaser+Energetics+Files+Patent+For+New+Laser2010-06-28+19%3A51%3A41Jack+Korbahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.ipbrief.net%2F%3Fp%3D463

Laser Energetics has recently finished its patent application for its new GreenStar Diode Pumped Green Laser.  The new Daser Laser technology will apparently create smarter, smaller, and brighter laser power.  The new laser achieved 24% conversion efficiency along with powers over 500 watts.  The technology is designed for military and law enforcement use when non-lethal force is an option.  The green laser beam impairs vision and awareness in an instant and can be used at effective distances from 1 to 2,400 meters.  According to Laser Energetics, the product line runs on standard battery power and will be relatively lightweight.  The product will apparently also run effectively day or night without overheating.

The patent will allow Laser Energetics to save hundreds of dollars on each laser product it uses, since it will now be able to bypass paying royalties associated with patents covering use of multiple lasers optical distracters.  The Daser Laser product line currently consists of the Guardian and Defender models.  Production for the new technology has been contracted out by Laser Energetics to General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products.  Work will be performed at General Dynamics’ production facility in Charlotte, N.C. and will begin this month.
